Michiel is a partner in Amsterdam-based boutique law firm Leeway. He is a specialist in intellectual property and media law with a particular focus on acting for clients in the digital business, retail and entertainment sectors. Experienced in a wide range of international trademark litigation (including the Dutch Supreme Court and the European courts) as well as IP licensing. He also regularly advices in trademark and other IP transactions (including complex joint ventures and M&A deals).

As a leading force in media and entertainment work, he boasts wide-ranging expertise in digital media and content issues, including such niche areas as TV formats, film production music publishing, and collective rights, as well as franchising, distribution and agency matters. Before establishing Leeway, Michiel was a partner at Osborne Clarke and Baker McKenzie where he headed the IP & Media departments.
